Where it all started
Since childhood I have seemed to always need some sort of creative outlet. I've gone through many hobbies but nothing really "stuck" until I picked up a DSLR for the first time. I was a typical first time parent and had my daughter's first birthday party all worked out. The cake was ordered, decorations underway, photographer booked-until she backed out the day before. Panic. I needed those sweet, sweet milestone photos of Lyla absolutely losing her mind smashing face first into her giant cake. Luckily, my husband was in town and saw first hand how quickly my excitement was traded for immense frustration. Being the thoughtful man that he is, he set out to try and fix the problem. A couple hours later he shows up, excitedly hands me a Best Buy shopping bag and said " I bought you a nice camera so you could take her pictures". I spent hours online trying to figure out what the heck I was doing. I wasn't confident but you better believe I proudly documented her first birthday. They weren't perfect but they will always be cherished and I can always remember that as a turning point in my life. Since then I have been continuously learning more about myself through photography. I have learned and accepted that not everyone will have my same style and that's OKAY. The beautiful thing about this craft is that you can be as creative as you want- you get a glimpse of how the world appears to other people - and that's something that we should all appreciate.
AND NOW..
Now I am a mom of four; Lyla, Leo, Julia, and Hallie. We have planted roots in South Georgia and hope to be here for a while. So much has changed since that first day I picked up a camera, I have grown more confident in myself and my abilities. I have done things I never dreamed I would have the opportunity to do. I'm a work in progress but my husband keeps me calm, my babies keep me crazy, and my clients keep me creative.
